
The 2010 program will be held at Illinois State University from June 22 to July 2.
The program is FREE to Insurance Regulators except for travel expenses. Program tuition, meals, and lodging during the program are paid by the Ken Smith Financial Regulation Foundation.
George Flanigan, is the Insurance Industry Professor at Illinois State University. He holds a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Ph.D. in Insurance at the University of Iowa. His research has been published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, CPCU Journal, Journal of Insurance Issues, and numerous other academic and practitioner publications. Dr. Flanigan is very active with the insurance industry business community frequently speaking or lecturing before industry groups. He is on the national faculty of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and regularly conducts seminars for RIMS at locations across the nation.
James R. Jones manages the Katie School at Illinois State University and works with the Dean of the College of Business to help ensure that students in the insurance program at Illinois State have a world-class educational experience. Jones also works with the insurance industry on various research projects and professional development workshops including claims best practices, negotiation, teamwork, and attracting and retaining talent. Previously Jones was Director of Claims Education and Director of Center for Performance Improvement and Innovation at the Insurance Institute of America in Malvern, PA. Jones has been involved in property and casualty claims for both personal and commercial lines since 1984. He has edited and written books on various areas including insurance claims practices. Jones has published articles in the National Underwriter, Claims Magazine, Claims Quarterly, and The CPCU Journal. Jones has been an adjunct professor and he also works with the insurance industry on various research projects and professional development workshops including claims best practices, negotiation, teamwork, and attracting and retaining talent. Jones received his B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his M.B.A from St. Louis University.
