The Katie School of Insurance in conjunction with the Professional Sales
Institute at Illinois State University and the Independent Insurance
Agents of Illinois offer a Certificate Program in Sales entitled
Professional Sales Insurance Associate (PISA).
The program involves two stand-alone parts.
Part One is entitled "Achieving Sales Fundamentals" (aka Foundations of
Selling).
This is a one-week program offered on the campus of Illinois State
University.
The audience for this is new producers, account representatives, or
experienced CSRs wishing to take on more of a producer role. Part Two of the program, "Advanced Selling Techniques", is a four-day
program on campus and concludes with a "Top Gun" selling competition
whereby participants compete for awards and are judged by a panel of
industry sales professionals on their approach, style, and application
of effective sales principles. This program is offered on the basis of
enrollment from successful completers of Part One.
These programs enjoy industry support and recognition. It has been
featured in Rough Notes Magazine. In addition to its premier sponsor,
the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois, a number of insurers
including MetLife Auto, AAA of Illinois, Westbend Mutual, Hanover, and
Great American have sponsored the program. In 2009, Hartford joined this
list and is helping to market the program across the Midwest in
conjunction with its own technical training programs.
