The Katie School Student Leadership Program in Risk Consulting brings together 20 of the top students from the College to participate in an eight-month program culminating with a student risk consulting project for one of several local not-for-profit organizations. Students earn a scholarship and certification upon completion. This program begins during the fall semester and ends in late spring. As a capstone to the leadership training, students participate in a risk consulting project for a not-for-profit organization. The project allows students to exercise the knowledge gained through the insurance and actuary curriculum as well as build on the leadership training offered during the program. Throughout the consulting project students are accountable for:
In order to successfully complete the risk assessment students will often interview members of the assigned organization, visit the company's location for a physical inspection, and analyze current insurance policies and coverages.
The Katie School Student Leadership Program in Risk Consulting is always looking for organizations to offer the risk consulting services of these extraordinary students. By becoming involved with the leadership program your organization will be helping these students develop their risk assessment skills as well as their leadership skills...all while receiving a free risk consultation!
Feedback from previous years' participating organizations has been overwhelmingly positive. To increase the learning potential, students work under the direction of Katie School Director Jim Jones throughout the risk consulting project.
